Distressed Homes, Renovated Homes and Short Sale Help…

Why I Love Renovated Homes

I am always trying to recycle. Whether it’s through separating my paper, plastics, and aluminums, or by repurposing goods around my home, I’m all about it. So when I was on the market for a new home, I was really drawn to renovated homes. Why? Because renovated homes are recycled homes.

It seems like 10 years ago, the trend in my neighborhood was that if a building didn’t “fit in” with the current design scheme that was popular, or if it wasn’t considered modern, it would be torn down and replaced with condos or a cookie-cutter stuccoed subdivision-transplant home. I think now, since these condos and ugly stucco homes sit vacant, renovated homes are becoming more and more popular. People nowadays are drawn more to the past, and furthermore, are interested in preserving these homes of yesteryear. The homes recovered for renovation are the homes cast away as  dilapidated, undesirable, and ugly. The renovation process is kind of like those make-over movies where the popular girl in school takes the nerd under her wing, shows her how to tweeze her eyebrows and use mascara, gives her a new outfit, and bam!—she’s super-hot. Renovated homes are that nerdy girl in school: they just need a little elbow grease so their true colors can show.
